Distilled Water has many uses in industry and has significant advantages over tap water. For example, tap water may contain many chemicals and trace elements and might also contain suspended pollutants. These contaminants may alter the effectiveness of experiments or industrial processes. For example, in the enamelling industry, it is vital to use Distilled Water to prevent the enamel from 'bubbling' due to impurities present in the water. In the automotive industry, it is essential that lead-acid batteries are topped up with Distilled Water rather than tap water. Again, it is the impurities in tap water which could damage the batteries and cause them to have a significantly shorter lifespan. In the home, many people refer to use Distilled Water in their steam irons as opposed to tap water. Again, this is due to the potential harmful effects of impurities found in common tap water. These impurities can build up within the steam iron and cause the steam vents on the soleplate to clog up with unwanted material. The process of distillation is believed to be one of the earliest means of producing pure water. We use our Deionized Water in our distillation process which we heat until it boils. As it boils, it produces water vapour which is collected in another vessel, cooled and condensed. The clear water left at the end of this process is known as Distilled Water. It is virtually free of any trace metals, minerals or contaminants, these having been left on the side of the heating vessel. All the Distilled Water for sale that we offer is made by ourselves in-house using this method in accordance with our Quality System.
